After my Poet Laureate appointment was announced, I had the great experience of a long chat with and interview by Alice Daniels, of KVPR, Valley Public Radio. She runs a brief segment called 'Processing the Pandemic' as part of the program Valley Edition. My interview aired as part of this, and the link to my segment is below.

What I want to say, at the risk of stealing my own thunder, is that human beings have always used poetry-writing and other creative endeavors to process and negotiate whatever happens in their lives--the good, the bad, and the impossible. Writing is natural, and the best way I know to discover what your own truths are. I hope to encourage this writing in regard to everything experienced during the Pandemic, and to come up with a way to get that writing shared.
