Poetry and Painting

I remember attending an exhibit of Cezanne's paintings when I was about ten--and being stunned by his paintings of fruit. Later at home, I struggled with words to capture my feelings and understandings and questions about his bowls of apples in word images. Looking back, I realize this was my first serious attempt to make a necessary poem.
