The novelist Salman Rushdie, who is recuperating from a recent fatwa-related assassination attempt in the U.S. that left him seriously wounded, has these profound words for us.

"A poet's work...to name the unnamable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world and stop it from going to sleep."
--Salman Rushdie,
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
And regarding terrorism, he says
"Refuse to be terrified."
Bless you, Mr. Rushdie. We need your voice.
Fresno poets add our voices to his.
Mark 7 pm September 20, 2022 on your calendars for a social justice poetry reading at the Fresno Arts Council.
